What the Calendar Shows
Two full-year grids, the current year and the next, with the ISO week number printed under every date. Choose a country and its public holidays are highlighted in red on both years. Hover over a highlighted date to see the holiday's name; the full list for the current year appears below the grids, which is the easier view on a phone.
The week numbers follow ISO 8601, the standard used across Europe and in international business. Weeks run Monday to Sunday and week 1 is the week that holds the year's first Thursday. The grid itself starts each row on Sunday, so the Sunday at the start of a row carries the previous week's number and the other six days carry the next.
Reading Week Numbers at the Year's Edges
The first and last days of a year are where week numbers surprise people. January 1, 2026 is a Thursday, so week 1 of 2026 started on Monday, December 29, 2025. The days from December 29 to 31 belong to week 1 of 2026, not to the last week of 2025. A year has 53 weeks when it begins or ends on a Thursday, and 2026 is one: December 31, 2026 is a Thursday, so the year has 53 weeks. In 2027 January 1 falls on a Friday, so week 1 does not start until Monday, January 4, 2027.
The US often counts weeks from Sunday and calls the week with January 1 week 1, so a week number from a US system can differ from the ISO one by a week. The week numbers page lists every week of the year with its dates.
Where the Holiday Data Comes From
Holidays are loaded in your browser from the open Nager.Date data set, which is maintained by contributors rather than published by governments. It covers many countries; the dropdown here lists 77 of them. Countries it does not cover, such as India, Israel and Thailand, are not in the dropdown, though the calendar and week numbers still work without them.
Two limits are worth knowing. Where a holiday falls on a weekend, some lists show the day it is observed instead: in the US, Independence Day 2026 appears on Friday, July 3, because July 4 is a Saturday. And holidays tied to lunar calendars are not complete for every country. On October 18, 2026 the data had Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha for Turkey, only Eid al-Adha for Egypt, and neither for Morocco. For payroll, contracts or travel, check the country's official announcement.
What to Do Next
For a plain list of holidays with a year switch, use the public holidays page. To count working days across a holiday, the business days calculator handles weekends, and you subtract the holidays that fall on weekdays. For today's week number on its own, see the current week number page.
