Daylight Saving Time 2028 — When Do Clocks Change?

US clocks go forward on Sunday, March 12, 2028, and back on Sunday, November 5, 2028. Europe changes on March 26 and October 29. The Los Angeles Olympics run July 14 to 30, in the middle of US summer time, so Pacific time stays at UTC-7 for every event.

Southern Hemisphere clocks run the other way: April is the end of their summer time and September or October the start. Only New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, the ACT and New Zealand change; the rest of Australia stays put.

Every US state follows the same two dates except Hawaii and most of Arizona, which stay on standard time all year, as do the territories. Federal law lets a state opt out of daylight time but not stay on it, so only the exceptions can change this. Canada matches the US except Saskatchewan, Yukon and British Columbia, which keep one offset all year.
What's Different About 2028
The US and Europe are 14 days apart in spring (March 12 through March 25) and 7 days apart in autumn (October 29 through November 4). In those windows New York and London are four hours apart instead of five.
2028 is a leap year, but February 29 doesn't move any of these dates. US summer time is 34 weeks as usual and European summer time is 31.
In the Southern Hemisphere, Sydney and Melbourne go back to standard time on April 2 and forward again on October 1. New Zealand goes back on April 2 and forward on September 24.
The Weeks When the US and Europe Disagree in 2028
The US and Europe don't change on the same weekends, so for 14 days in spring and 7 in autumn the New York to London gap is four hours instead of five. Here's what a Monday 10:00 AM New York call looks like on a London calendar through 2028:

A Sporting Example: Watching the LA Olympics From Abroad
LA28 runs from July 14 to July 30, 2028. Los Angeles is on Pacific Daylight Time (UTC-7) the whole time, because US summer time began in March and doesn't end until November. Take a 7:00 PM session in Los Angeles (an example, not a real schedule entry) on July 20:

From London eastward, a 7:00 PM Los Angeles session is the next morning or afternoon. Nobody on this list changes their clocks in July, so the times hold for all 17 days of the Games. LA28: official Games dates.
